Spring

Spring always reminds me of new beginnings. New growth. Rebirth. It is a time to rejoice in and enjoy the newness of life. It is such a blessing to be able to see this growth in Isaac right now. It seems as with each new day he is learning and testing so much. To see him grow in size, grow in capabilities / skills, and grow in personality is a constant reminder of how God watches us grow in our surroundings.

My desires for Isaac are that he will continue to be blessed with good health. That he will grow to be a godly young man and exude the love and name of Jesus Christ every where he goes. That he will have a compassion for others and their needs. That he will be a reflection of Jesus in his actions, speech, life, and work.

Now back to Spring...
I catch myself dreaming about walking through fields of vibrant flowers and soft grass. Watching little ducklings follow their mom into the water of a near by lake. Laying on the ground watching the cotton ball clouds overhead. Then wake up to the reality of ants crawling up my leg, eyes watering, and sneezing so hard it hurts. But what a nice dream it was.

I would love to be able to one day have beautiful flower beds around my house with flowers for every season. With mulch that is fresh and adequate and bushes that aren't the run of the mill boxwoods and hollies. To have a gardener help guide me to what is the best location for plants and when to plant, what is the right soil mixture -- that is a dream. But the one I dream of most is a driveway lined with white and pink dogwood trees. Oh to dream.

Bed and Breakfast

Yes one day I would love to open a Bed and Breakfast. I would use my tea cups and china to serve in the tea room that would be open to guests every day and open to the public a couple of days a week. This B&B will be in a brick colonial style house on enough acreage to have a small horse farm. Now I am not interested in raising or the boarding of the horses. I would like to offer the land to someone who is, but does not have the land to do so. I would be able to help the person who has the desire to raise the horses and in turn have an in house activity for my guests. The property will also be located near a body of water (river or lake) so the guests can go fishing or hiking or relax by the water. I will also have a black fence around the perimeter which is down a tree lined country lane. There will also be enough land to build a second house which will be where I live with my family.

Too specific? No, what is the use in dreaming if you can't get to the details. If you cannot dream to get exactly what you want is it really your dream. If you allow yourself to dream and allow yourself to believe your dreams can be achieved, then your dreams can come true. There will be struggles, setbacks, and disappointments along the way - but these obstacles must be used as building blocks, learning tools, and vital to achieving those dreams.

Released to Dream

Over the past few weeks I have been reminded that I had stopped dreaming. I could not tell you what my dreams were, I did not have any. I had suppressed my dreaming ability - put it in the category of why I can never achieve that so why waste my time. I am now challenging myself to start dreaming again. What is that I want out of life? What is it that I want for my family? What is it that I want for my career? What is it that I want for those around me?

I have started dreaming, a little. It is still hard - especially for a control freak that has to have everything in order. The hard part is allowing myself the freedom to think freely without constraints.

So what are some of my dreams:
*To have a Christ centered family; full of gratitude, love, life, and support for each other
*To open a bed and breakfast
*To be completely debt free
*To be able to give to others freely and support various ministries around the world
*To see Steve achieve his dreams and support him in his journey
*To travel to the Swiss Alps and stay in a cabin on a mountain top lake
*To learn how to play the Piano and have a house with a piano room that is home to a Baby Grand Piano

This is where I will begin. I will give more details into these dreams as I go, mainly so I do not forget the ideas I have along the way. Don't be afraid to dream. God has provided us with the ability to dream and to achieve those dreams. Why not utilize the talents and abilities given to us by God to fulfill these dreams and to help others along the way and to give all the glory to God.
